1. Do you allow CHILDREN AT TREEBONES?
Children over 6 years of age are welcome to visit Treebones. At this more mature age they are better able to appreciate the serenity, the scenic views, and the atmosphere we are known for. We have seen that families with toddlers and infants find it a difficult challenge to keep them entertained and quiet in consideration of other guests. This is why we request that only families with children over 6 years old visit. Also, please note that children are not permitted to be left alone in the yurts. This is not safe in our remote wilderness location!
Treebones has four specific yurts that accomodate families. The other yurts and the campsites have a strict occupancy of two guests, regardless of age.
If you visit with your children please note that the yurts and lodge area are "communal" in nature and require all guests to monitor their conversations and personal activities so as not to be a disturbance to others.
2. When booking with children do I need to COUNT MY CHILD as a person? Or can my kids just sleep on the floor?
Kids are people too!! They count as an extra person in the yurts and remember! we only permit more than two guests in four specified yurts.
3. Do you 'do' GROUP BOOKINGS?
Our goal is to create a wonderfully unique lodging experience for traveling couples, individuals or small family units. The maximum number of yurts permitted to be booked by any one person is two! We can gladly recommend nearby establishments that 'do' groups, however, our guests like what we've got going - just as it is....if we permitted group events it could, quite possibly, detract from the overall enjoyment of other Treebones yurters.
4. Why are you so strict about OCCUPANCY LIMITS?
Adhering to strict occupancy limits is the Big Sur yin & yang: it is the balance between sharing Treebones with families & really small groups while at the same time maintaining the quiet, peaceful ambience our visitors have come to expect and enjoy - especially those celebrating an anniversary, a honeymoon... recovering from chemo or a personal loss...
5. Can I bring my OWN WINE or beer into the lodge?
There is currently no corkage fee but we kindly request that you enjoy your own wine in the privacy of your yurt and then enjoy our offerings when you dine with us in the lodge. We have a nice variety of reasonably priced wines and beer for sale in the gift store.
6. HOW FAR is the walk to the restrooms from my yurt?
It will take you about 1 or 2 minutes to get to the restrooms. If you forget your flashlight- no worries - we give you one for the duration of your stay!
7. I know you do not allow dogs in the yurts but can I LEAVE MY DOG in the car all night?
It is never recommended to leave a pet in a car unattended - in fact, it is illegal in California! The parking is not within view or ear shot of most of the yurts and we request that you never attempt to do this. We can gladly recommend the nearest pet boarding facility.
8. What is your general booking and CANCELLATION POLICY?
We charge the full amount of your stay at the time you book. You are welcome to change or cancel your reservation for a $35 booking fee up to one week in advance of your arrival. Within 7 days of your arrival there are no refunds, changes or cancellations.
9. Is your on-line CALENDAR CURRENT?
Yes! always.
10. I am a college student that applied to work at Treebones last summer but you were already fully staffed. WHEN DO YOU RECEIVE APPLICATIONS from university/college students?
We welcome submissions from U.S. students as well as international applicants. There are a limited number of seasonal positions available but we definitely try hard to bring on staff at least two college students a year to work alongside our full time resident staff. Our peak season is April through end October. Foreign students should apply as early as January in order to secure adequate time to process J1 visa's. U.S. students should begin corresponding with us by February and plan to relocate in April. On-site housing is modest & reasonably priced - in a beautiful setting. If you love to hike, kayak or surf and enjoy meeting interesting travelers from all over the world & can handle a bit of isolation then this may be for you! Send us a brief and concise resume, be sure to include easy-to-reach, authentic references - we pre-screen all prospective applicants by calling references up-front! Good luck.
